Sisters of Battle + Land Raider Redeemer = ?

Hi there, im looking to incorporate some new stuff into my already too big SoB army and my friend thought i should take a Land Raider Redeemer. But the problem is that the Codex is older than GW itself so the only Land Raider im allowed to take is the "Standard" Godhammer pattern.
To me thats just wrong, SoB's arent directly famous for their Lascannons, so to me a Redeemer with even more fire is the SoB way.

So what do you boys/girls think?

Fabbe Out! :sistersofbattle:

Heroclix model size question/Iron Man conversion request?

So, as nothing but a gag, I decided it would be fun to run an Iron Man model as a Blood Angels chaplain with Bolt Pistol and Jump Pack (Who needs a crozius, when you've got Iron Man's fists of pain?). Anyway, I'm wondering how the scale on heroclix models are compared to 40k, because the easiest (read as: most boring) solution would be to use a heroclix model.

The IDEAL method though, would be to model him somehow. I'm just not even sure where I would start, since I'm not very good with GS.

This Viable? 1750 SM Dreadnought Dakka

First of all hello!

So I guess it's not really competive, but you think it'd get horrible runover? Otherwise seems like fun, Got three pretty basic models, (tactical marines, Dreadnought, Rhino's) that you can use for plenty o' things, and one pimped out cool guy (Master of da Forge!) Anyway here's the list.

1 Master of the Forge 150 Points
Bike, Storm Bolter, combi flamer

4 x Tactical Squads 4x180 Points 720 Points
7 SpaceMarines Boltgun, 1 Flamer, 1 Spacemarine Lascannon, 1 Sergeant (Three with dedicated Rhinos, Extra armor, Stormbolter a la 60 points. )

5 x Dreadnought 5x140 Points 700 Points
Assault Cannon, Twin-Linked Autocannon, Extra Armor

1750

So the plan is to hit the enemy with 10 twin-linked s7 shots and four lascannons round one, then one way or the other get them into rending range and fling alot of dice.

Possible adjustments, Swapping a tac-squad for lascannon devastators, swapping a tac squad for space marine bike squad, giving the MotF some canned ablative meatshields, Going to 2000 points and adding another dreadnought, devastator squad, MotF, possible with conversion beamer, Screwing the rhinos and buying a fifth tac squad... screwing the entire concept and going for five ironclads, landraider assault terminator horribleness instead.

I just like master of the forge. And dreadnoughts. Dreadnoughts are cool.

GT ready eldar list -- 1750

Rip this list apart as it is a rough draft idea for future purchases.

Plan is Farseers ride with harliquins in the wave serpents (hoping in first turn) and then leave the unit on the turn they start assaulting (hoping back in the WS if possible). Avengers hop in the Falcons. Jetbikes can go into reserves if the terrain or enemy limits the use of popup attacks.
Thousand Sons Sorcerer Conversion !

I always like my character models to look unique, and this ones no exception. The model is Ariman of the Thousand Sons, mounted on a Fantasy Disc of Tzneetch. I repositioned both his arms, and extended the front of his tabbard with green stuff to remove the gap between him and the disc. I also green stuff'ed some wrap around cloth to paint the symbols on. The base is resin, and all in all, a unique model, and . . . . . . like all the others I've posted recently, he'll be on Ebay soon :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

1250 Pt IG Army. Noob player

Finally have a painted IG force that I can field so thought I'd see how it might fair:
Bear in mind that this list is based primarily on what I have painted.
I come from a FOW background, so this list might not be suited to a 40k game.
They are Tallarn minis so I might use those Doctrines. There are pics for Mulg (which we've seen already), Circle Stoneward & Woldstalkers, and LOE Blighted Swordsmen Abbot & Champion Unit Attachment.

Mulg is great, but the others I'm less keen on. The Woldstalker sculpts look kind of boring, but their paint jobs are great. Those gem "eyes" are ace. The Stoneward is all right, but it's hard to tell from the pic. The Abbot confuses me. How is finger wagging supposed to help anything on a battlefield? And I don't like his or the Champ's helmets.

500 pt Ork army tactics, builds, and strategies

I am the noob. I am cutting my teeth and dakkadakka has helped enormously. I have lurked and read everything I could find about da boyz before posting.

There are two leagues that are getting ready to start up. i have a post in the lists thread (no one has replied to :'( ) about the larger league, but I just entered a 500 point league as well. i am excited about it because it will allow me to understand the other armies and grow with the league. (500 points jan/feb, 750 mar/apr, 1000 may/jun, 1500 july/aug. )

I know there will be a few blackreach ork lists and marine lists. I have quite a few models and can field about anything that could be put in the list.

I was thinking big mek with kff bosspole and burna, 30 sluggas with nob with powerklaw and bosspole, and 20 shootas with 2 big shootas and a nob with powerklaw and bosspole.

Is that realistic?
Bikes Assault Move (2nd Chance)

The issue is still "open" and the other thread was locked, so here we go. Less flaming, and more doomrider please!

This is Moz's argument

P1: The Movement phase and Assault phase are distinct, separate phases
P2: During the Assault phase, a unit moves using the rules of the Movement phase
C1: A unit will move in the assault phase following all rules for movement except those that are specific to 'during the Movement phase'
P3: All units move as infantry except when specifically stated otherwise in the unit types section
follow the rules for the appropriate unit type, and if those rules don’t say anything different, follow the basic rules for infantry.
P4: Bikes may move up to 12" during the Movement phase (capital M, game term: Movement phase)
C2: Bikes will move at the speed of infantry during the Assault phase (6")

**************
The hang-up seems to be:
What does "follow the rules for the appropriate unit type, and if those rules don’t say anything different, follow the basic rules for infantry" mean? Is moving 12" in the assault phase "following the rules for the appropriate unit type" for bikes, or is the lack of mentioning any assault rules for bikes meant to imply that we are to use the "basic rules for infantry."

Vindicare Assassin

This is one of my favourite models from GW, and one of my favourite paint jobs I've done. I wanted an 'earthy' feel to him, so he'd look like he would blend into the scenary. He's painted black, Foundation Granite, and then either highlighted up the Greys for the black clothing, or up to Foundation Gretchin Green for the armour. The base I cut a hole into and formed a false bottom, and progressively built up some of the water effects into it to create a small pool. And VERY regrettably, I need to raise some ££££, so he's up for grabs on Ebay. :'( Shame, he's one of my favourites :'(

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=220340626624

Need a little help here...

OK, in a week or so, 600 points of my daemon army will face two 300 point HE and Dwarf armies in a 2 on 1 game, I know that the dwarfs will concentrate on shootyness and the HE will likely field CC Infantry (including a unit of Phoenix guard, I'm sure), My plan is to have Khorne and Tzeentch troops, the Khorne boys will tie up the Dwarfs, while Tzeentchies lads pound the HE with magic, this is because
1. Dwarfs are more resistant to Magic than HE
2. I don't want to engage the elves in close combat because that's what they want because of the super cheaty speed of Asuryan rule.

Does anyone know anything else useful? Any units I should take in particular? I'm uncertain of the outcome, as the HE player is a WHFB virgin (beginners luck? :S), but the Dwarf guy beats me nearly every time we play (although that's usually when I use my O&G)

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Alternate Blood Bowl Mini Manufacturers?

This last week, I had some friends out from New York and to commemorate the playing of football Bowl games, I dug out my old Blood Bowl rules and my Skaven team for a game. One game turned into two turned into three...Blood Bowl players know how that goes. Anyhow, by the time my friends had to head back home, I had them hooked on the game - one even talking about wanting a Skaven Team of his own. So, I'm planning on buying them their own copy of the game, and want to buy and paint them up two teams as presents (one in NY Giants colors and the other in NY Jets colors). One of the teams will definitely be a Skaven team, but I haven't decided on what to buy for the other team. I'm pretty familiar with GW's Blood Bowl teams and this morning took a look at ShadowForge's female football teams. Does anyone know of any other manufacturers that make models that would be appropriate for Blood Bowl?

An alternative to wound allocation

I can't believe I didn't remember this sooner! This is the way my buddies and I used to randomly allocate damage to units waaay back in second edition.

Once all the rolling to hit and to wound and armor saves are done, the owning player first declares whether he is starting from the left or the right and roll a D6. He counts that many models over and removes whichever one is indicated, continuing on until all casualties had been removed. Gaps where a model had been just a second ago were skipped over. If the unit is so big that there are multiple ranks, start at the first rank and work your way back until you get to the back row and then start at the front again. If the unit that the damage is going to has multiple wounds, remove whole models and count off that many wounds. If a multiple-wounds unit has any instant death hits coming their way, roll a second D6 and that many casualties in, remove a casualty for that single hit. If the casualties are significant, this will most likely require the unit to waste their next turn's movement restoring unit coherency, imparting the attack with a quite realistic suppressing effect.

It's quick, brutal and completely random, just like war. I would seriously appreciate anyone's thoughts on this.

We will purposely take 2nd turn, in case he tries to do the same thing to us (I wrecked this player at 5k a while back through the same strategy). He has a Tigershark, which the Tau will definitely take. Our flyer will shoot, then ram. His flyer is about twice as expensive as ours, so we will willingly trade flyers. Marines go in first, tie up everything in combat. Dreads will stay away from FW with their EMP grenades (almost wrecked us last time, he'll prolly take them), and the HQ will roam at will. The odd Speeder is just anti-tank, a throw away.

I'm thinking a few heavy weapons may get axed, so the full Tac Squads can just focus on moving about and HTH.

Ideas, Comments, and Suggestions are all welcome.

Fallout 3 Downloadable Expansions announced (January, February and March 2009)

Didn't see anyone talking about this here, so I figured I'd mention this. The news has me stoked as I've pretty much played Fallout 3 to death at this point. All I really have left to do is the neutral achievement, and I may just use the XP bug to do that.

January 2009 - Operation Anchorage

For 800 Microsoft Points you will be able to enter a combat sim of the US's taking back Anchorage from the Red China invasion! Side quest similar to Knights of the 9 in Oblivion.

February 2009 - The Pitt

Allows you to journey to the ruins of Pittsburg (perhaps via a transport ala Shiverring Isles?) and either enslave or save the people there.
March 2009 - Broken Steel

Allows you to join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and CONTINUE PAST LEVEL 20 at the end of the game.

No cost announcements for the second two yet... but the last one has me stoked. This game has me hooked as bad as Oblivion did (despite the removal of all the adult stuff). The only downside is that Bethesda has cut a deal with Microsoft to make these expansions 360 and PC exclusive (sorry PS3 owners!).
